Future 2 Future Live Tour
In support of the album Future 2 Future, released in 2001, Herbie and a talented group of musicians—Darrell Diaz (keyboards), Terri Lyne Carrington (drums), DJ Disc (turntables), Matthew Garrison (bass) and Wallace Roney (trumpet)—embarked on an ambitious multimedia, multi-genre tour across Asia, North America and Europe. About Future 2 Future, Herbie says, “The music is unlike anything that I’ve ever done before; as a matter of fact, it’s unlike anything I’ve ever heard before.” In addition to improvisational jazz, the tour featured spoken word, techno, vocals, turntables and many other musical flavors. The tour also made use of state-of-the-art technology, including a surround-sound P.A. and a stunning visual backdrop consisting of computer-generated graphics.

In 2002, a DVD of the tour’s Los Angeles show was released. The recorded concert features many of Herbie’s hits, including “Rockit” and “Chameleon,” among others. An interview with Herbie, the original “Rockit” video and bios of the band members also appear on the DVD.
